ETNA IN OFF ROAD
We offer entertaining one-day off road tour on Etna craters, lava flows, woods and volcanic ash fields. The off road vehicles (Land Rover Discovery) are able to transport up to seven people, they are equipped with air conditioning and they are front running.
The itineraries provided:
- The Nord Side of Etna
- Departure from hotel
- Venerina
- Milo (optional coffee break)
- Drive across a lava rock quarry
- Off-roading at Pietra Cannone, climb Monte Fontane and see panoramic view across Valle del Bove
- Trekking on Monti Sartorius (aprox. 1 hour, easy/medium level of difficulty)
- Panoramic view from Rifugio Citelli (optional coffee break)
- Off-road driving through the forests to admire the ancient road “Mareneve”
- Break at Piano Provenzana to admire the lava flow from the 2002 eruption
- Lunch at a typical Rifugio (not included in price)
- Visit of caves created by lava flow
- Off-roading (lava facing) as far as the end point of the lava flow of the 2002 eruption
- Back to the hotel
- The South Side of Etna
- Departure from hotel
- Drive through the village of Zafferana Etnea
- Trekking to enjoy a panoramic view across Valle del Bove
- Off roading to piano del Vescovo
- Trekking on the Silvestri craters
- Lunch at a Refugio (non included in price)
- Back to the hotel
- Alcantara Gorges trail
- Departure from hotel
- Drive through some typical villages (Francavilla di Sicilia, Castiglione di Sicilia)
- Visit to The Alcantara Gorges
- Off-roading along the old railway track
- Travel back up the “Mareneve” road, off-roading (lava facing) as far as the end point of the lava flow of the 2002 eruption
- Visit of caves created by lava flow
- Coffee break or quick lunch at Rifugio Ragabo (not included in price)
- Break at Piano Provenzana to admire the lava flow from the 2002 eruption
- Off-road driving through the woods to admire the ancient road “Mareneve“
- Back to the hotel
